My love for film photography
As so often in life, a happy accident is what led my path to film photography. To fill my time, I decided to enroll in photography classes at the The College of Charleston, back when my family lived in South Carolina. I soon learned that the college required students to learn analog photography before moving on to digital. The rest is history.
Film photography turned out to be the creative outlet that I had been longing for. I immediately fell in love with the medium and the process.
I’m old-school. Road trips, classic movies and music from the 70’s-90’s inspires me in my work. I firmly believe that pretty much everything was much better before the digital revolution.
I am passionate about traveling and my film cameras always come with me. I cherish the inherit irregularity that analog photography possesses. Not seeing the final result until later makes each photo scan feel like a special gift. The film emulsion creates colors of extraordinary richness and depth and has the ability to turn the mundane into magical. I firmly believe that each roll of film has a soul.
I work with old medium format film cameras made by Hasselblad, Rolleiflex and Mamiya.
Sincerely,
Lisa Fludzinski
